Updated 04 July 2008 Brilliant Pongo is a Broadcast Journalist based in the United Kingdom. He has previously worked with ZBC Radio and done part time work with SW Radio Africa. He is a regular contributor to the station's Reporters Forum programme and co-host of On the Pulse with Lance Guma. Pongo is currently a Media Studies Lecturer at an FE College in Westmidlands, UK. He worked for the Zimbabwe Broadcasting corporation (ZBC) - the national broadcaster - as a producer presenter for radio1 as well as for The Weekend Tribune - a national newspaper, which was one of the few independently owned weekly publications later shut down by the Zimbabwean government for reporting negatively on the government. In 2003 after reporting and writing articles in his newspaper column that where deemed too critical of the Mugabe government, Brilliant Pongo, was forced into exile were he joined the exiled Zimbabwean community and a growing number of displaced Zimbabwean journalists in the UK. He continued writing for a number of online publications set up by exiled journalists. In 2005, he set up ZonetRadio.com - an entertainment and news website set up specifically to cater for the Zimbabwean diasporas and has freelanced for SW Radio Africa, which broadcasts on short wave into Zimbabwe.
