HARARE- ALL elected MDC candidates will on Sunday meet with the party President, Morgan Tsvangirai for a pep talk on various pertinent issues including the forthcoming elections.

According to the Secretary for Information and Publicity, Hon. Nelson Chamisa, all elected candidates, who are dubbed the “New Zimbabwe Team,” will converge at Harvest House, the headquarters of the MDC to have a face to face interaction with the party president.

President Tsvangirai is contesting on an MDC ticket for the presidential elections.

“The occasion will give the aspiring candidates a chance to discuss the problems they are facing in their areas especially rural areas where Zanu PF youth militias and war veterans are intimidating opposition members,” Hon. Chamisa said.

“Sunday’s meeting also comes at a time when we have successfully concluded the primary lections that were held this week across the whole of Zimbabwe,” said Hon, Chamisa.

He said the MDC would field candidates in 210 parliamentary constituencies, 60 senatorial seats and 1 988 council elections.

All these candidates will meet the president in Harare on Sunday.

“However, we are not going to contest elections in areas were independent and progressive forces are also vying for seats in order to drive out the Zanu PF regime,” he said.

The March elections come at a time when Zimbabweans are facing serious hardships due to the mismanagement of the economy.

This is also one of the discussions that are expected to feature during the New Zimbabwe Team pep talk with the president.-MDC Press.
