29 August 2008 By Wellington Chibhebhe Utterances by Zanu PF President, Robert Mugabe that the recent cabinet which has been illegally running the country after the March 29 Harmonized elections, where his party was convincingly defeated, has been the worst in the history of the country, is true to sense and spirit, and should include the then Head of State and government also. Speaking at a reception for his dignitaries after officially opening the seventh session of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, Mugabe stunned the dignitaries when he started to criticize his cabinet for failing to deliver. In his own words, he told the dignitaries that, “This Cabinet that I had was the worst in history. They look at themselves. They are unreliable.” The question which now begs for an answer from him is, Why did he allow this worst cabinet in the history of Zimbabwe to continue ruining the country, even after his defeat at the hands of the MDC in the March 27 Harmonised elections? It shows that Mugabe does not have the people of Zimbabwe at heart. Instead, just like his cabinet, he is the worst leader this country has had in living memory. Taking a leaf from the old Chinese adage that the power of a fish is in the water, Mugabe should know that he has been a fish out of water for the past ten years when his legitimacy has been under scrutiny. It is common knowledge that a fish starts rotting from the head, hence his criticism that he was presiding over the worst cabinet, also includes him. In reality, as the head of the cabinet, he should hold himself response for the decaying state of the nation. The decay started from the head. Zimbabweans have had to live in adject poverty LEAVE COMMENTS ON ARTICLE BELOW
