21 February 2008 By Never Kadungure Former Information Minister and now Independent Member of Parliament for Tsholotsho Professor Jonathan Moyo has denied any alliance with presidential candidate Simba Makoni. Speaking at the Bulawayo Press Club last Friday Professor Moyo described Makoni as a 'President for Hire' and dismissed his chances of winning the election. The reviled but shrewd politician said, ' If we want Simba to be our president, he will lose this one. The failure by the opposition forces and civic society to form a united front and the fragmented opposition gives Mugabe a chance.' ". . . who said the solution we need is a president? We don't need a president for hire," Moyo said before adding that it was almost impossible for an independent candidate to win a presidential election anywhere in the world. Moyo believes Mugabe will win the election and that it will take a major miracle for him to lose the poll. Professor Moyo has been very critical of Makoni's bid and on various international TV interviews has made it clear MDC supporters are unlikely to ditch their party for Makoni.
