Monomotapa continues to float on cloud nine as they continue to enjoy their rich form and rule the roost at the top of the PSL table. It has not been easy for analysts and sports writers to put a finger on the background to the prosperity of the Harare outfit, but as of now let us assume it is a combination of hard work and harmony in the team. And seeing young coaches like Norman Mapeza giving seasoned gaffers sleepless nights is extremely encouraging. They wacked Kiglon 2-1 on Saturday.

Monos have now stretched their lead to three points over second placed Highlanders, and third placed Njube Sundowns. Yes, and they have been unbeaten for the past ten matches, and that by all means is impressive and is a good sign of even ground for Zimbabwean football. And who knows what the league table will look like at the end of the season?

Highlanders bullied Waru Waru (Chapungu) at Barbourfields Stadium, the former’s favourite hunting ground, and it was a triumphant 2-0 victory. Highlanders will remain in second place even though they are on 25 tied points with Njube Sundowns due to their superior goal difference.

Dynamos are a distant forth on 23 points after a pathetic showing against Motor Action, and should Dembare be come back kings, then in no uncertain terms they are leaving it until rather too late. Clemence Matawu fired home the opener in the 54th minute and made Dynamos look an ordinary outfit unlike the champions and CAF champions league contenders who they are. They struggled with the game and never showed any depth or strength which has always been characteristic of the team. And in their desperation, they stumbled on lady luck as they found an equaliser through Edward Sadomba to stun the Mighty Bulls band of supporters who must have thought the points had been harvested. Anyway, such is football with its ups and downs.

However, Dynamos have a game in hand over the log leaders and those above them, but this could prove a tough call as the game is against Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium. They need to fire on all four cylinders, or even make them six if they have to justify  their worth in the game. Highlanders, however, have established themselves as the invincible marauding fighters in front of their faithful horn-blowing and drum-beating capacity crowd behind Mpilo hospital.

Lights are still not glowing at CAPS United, and to add insult to injury, they were stunned by a cool, yet venomous 1-0 away to Njube Sundowns  who are by all means the surprise package. As a result, the pharmaceutical side, the perennial giants of Zimbabwean football, slipped to an unrespectable 11th. It now should be asked if the term perennial giants should be extinct as totem. Only pessimists would think of it that way because these are only sleeping giants, they will wake up with a row, and we should never forget that these are Cup Kings, or maybe former Cup Kings. Only time will tell, and tell it shall. CAPS United’s newly appointed mentor Josten Mathuthu must be wondering where and how he can get that deadly finisher to restore the old pride at the green machine.

Eastern Lions are basking in pride after sticking 3 past Lengthens with two in reply at Sakubva stadium in the mountainous city of Mutare . A hero emerged in the form of Dananai Chinowawa as he got a hat trick for the Mutare outfit. Tendayi Nyamadzawo scored a brace for Lengthens, and it was a match for which the fans will not regret parting their money with. As such, the result shot Eastern Lions to level the points between the two teams, 14 each.

CAPS FC were left licking their wounds at Bagdad Stadium after a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lncashire Steel. Lancashire Steel were rock bottom of the table and are now one place up, exchanging positions with Gunners, who ironically took their name after English Premiership giants Arsenal.

Masvingo United shared the spoils with Underhill and it ended 1 all at Mucheke Stadium. Masvingo United shot into the lead with a 10th minute stunner from Ndabezinhle Ndlovuand Stanley Karimatsenga fired the equaliser just before half time.
